Mr. Young

Mr. Young is a main character on Netflix's Wu Assassins. He is portrayed by Tzi Ma.^[1]

He is a kindly Chinatown grocer and a mentor to Kai Jin.

Early Life[]

Not much is known about Mr. Young, other then the fact that he and Kai are close neighbors, and Kai looks up to him. It is implied that Mr. Young knows who Jenny, Lu Xin Lee, and Tommy are, as seeing the four of them together in Paths: Part 2 in the present time made Mr. Young reminisce their childhood.

Season 1[]

WUA-1x01-Drunken-Watermelon-Mr-Young — Mr. Young is saved

In Drunken Watermelon, Kai Jin quickly defeats multiple henchmen with his martial arts before attending an injured Mr. Young. Two triad henchmen appear in the hallway, and throw a knife to kill Mr. young, but Kai catches the knife. Mr. Young asks who saved him, and Kai replies "I'm a chef." Mr. Young greets Kai and tells him a Chinese Proverb. The Triad try to find Kai later that night.

In Misspent Youth, Uncle Six visits Mr. Young in the hospital, and he finds out the man who took out his henchmen is a bald chef who says he is the Wu Assassin.

In Fire Chicken, Kai meets with Mr. Young to see if he is alright, which he is, having healed from his wounds. Mr. Young later informs Kai that someone he knew was taken by the Triad.

WUA-1x05-Codladh-Samh-Mr-Young — Mr. Young talks to Kai

In Codladh Sámh, Kai goes to Mr. Young to buy some food items at the grocery store. Mr. Young recognizes that Kai is trying to poison someone, and tries to persuade Kai to not go through with it, Kai replies that he has to. Mr. Young acknowledges this, but tells Kai to leave him alone.

In Ladies' Night, Jenny meets with Mr. Young who asks if she is okay, when she receives a call that Tommy is in the police station.

In Paths: Part 2, Mr. Young enters the diner and sees the Kai, Jenny, Tommy, and Lu Xin celebrating, and fondly looks on.
